Former two-division champion Juan Manuel Lopez (34-5 31 KOs) is currently training for his first fight in two years. The hard hitting southpaw faces his long time nemesis and former super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (24-6 19 KOs) on October 8th at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
While a lot has been made of the rivalry between these two Boricuas - who have hurled several insults at each other over the past few years - Juanma insists that this fight is strictly business for him.
He also refuses to look too far ahead and isn't sure if his return to the ring will be a "one fight and done" type of scenario.
"For me it is just this fight. I am not thinking about other fights. I have been out of boxing but if this fight goes well and we look good then we might continue fighting. I am 33-years-old and I have been out a couple years. I feel good. I am motivated and happy with my family so we shall see what the future holds," Lopez explained.
Lopez has spent his time away from the ring with his family and working in a new profession but as is often the case with boxers, fighting is in his blood and the opportunity that was presented to him by Black Tiger Promotions was too good to pass up.
"I have been very relaxed. I've just been working selling alarm systems in Puerto Rico and spending time with my family. Just spending time with my kids and girlfriend. I started training at first just to lose weight and to get into shape and people were asking me what I was doing and then this fight presented itself so here we are," stated Juanma while also saying that he has received many messages from fans asking him if he will fight agian.
"A lot of fans have been asking me about when I am going to fight. They have been asking me on Twitter and Facebook. I want to thank them for the support and I hope they enjoy the fight."
