Former world champion Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez is waiting for the official date for the very anticipated rematch against Mexico's Orlando Salido. Lopez was knocked out in eight rounds by Salido on April 16 in Puerto Rico. Lopez was pushing to have the rematch in August, but it was very unlikely after BoxingScene.com reported last month that Salido was going to make a voluntary defense on July 23 in Mexico. Lopez expects a rematch date between September and October, and the location will fall in either Las Vegas or Puerto Rico.
"In two weeks I will give the official date for the rematch, but we already started to run and this week we are going to start working in the gym. The month of August is ruled out. The fight will be in either September or October, in Las Vegas or Puerto Rico. Everyone wants me to box, but my style is to be all over my opponent, and that's what I do. When the bell rings on the day of the rematch, I'm going to be all over Salido in the first round," Lopez told Jessica Andino.
