One of the best divisions in boxing is 126 pounds. Former two division champion Juan Manuel Lopez (31-1-, 28KOs) is targeting two of the best champions at the weight - Mexican beltholders Jhonny Gonzalez, who has the title of the World Boxing Council (WBC), and Orlando Salido, ruler of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) championship.
During the WBO's recent annual convention in Puerto Rico, Juanma told officials that he wants to get a rematch with Salido, but if that fight doesn't happen - he could see a showdown with Gonzalez next year.
"At this weight there is Jhonny Gonzalez, who is a great champion. We would like to fight him, because he's a champion in this division and it would be a great fight to attract global attention because of the quality of both boxers. The fight with Jhonny could happen next year. It would be an attractive fight, another war in the ring between Mexicans and Puerto Ricans," Juanma said.
Juanma is likely going to face Salido in February 2012, while Gonzalez (50-7, 44KOs) defends his belt against Panamanian Roinet Caballero on the 3rd of December in Mexico City.
