Both Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez and Celestino Caballero were not impressed with Saturday's performance by the new unified WBA/IBF champion Yuriorkis Gamboa, who won a twelve round unanimous decision over Mexican Orlando Salido in Las Vegas.
For Juanma, the 126 pound champion of the World Boxing Organization, he views his next opponent Rafael Marquez as being "much more difficult than Gamboa because of his level of expertise and resources. I've seen Gamboa fight twice, and the truth is I'm not too impressed."
"Gamboa has great speed and he's strong, but he doesn't do well moving backwards or side to side and in the two fights that I've seen, he gets tired after the fifth round."
WBA super bantamweight champion and future 126-pound fighter, Caballero, called Gamboa an "amateur boxer" to the newspaper Critica Olmos.
"He is still an amateur fighter," Caballero said.
