According to El Nuevo Dia, a newspaper based in Puerto Rico, Top Rank is interested in having WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez make a defense on the date of December 4 at Cowboys Stadium, which is the tentative date and location for the recently discussed middleweight bout between Kelly Pavlik and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

In the report, it was written that if Lopez beats Rafael Marquez on September 18, the rumored opponent for December would be WBA featherweight champion Chris John [John is the WBA's "super" champion at the weight]. The adviser for John, Sampson Lewkowicz, is also the adviser for Lopez's biggest rival, super bantamweight champion Celestino Caballero.

Lewkowicz is willing to explore the fight, but only after Lopez accepts the challenge of Caballero.

"It would be my pleasure to make a fight between Juanma and Chris John, but only after Juanma proves himself against Celestino Caballero, who is ready and able to fight Juanma at any time. Chris John was just injured and he has a postponed fight with Saucedo. Caballero has been asking for Juanma for a very long time. If Juanma wants John, he has to fight Caballero first," Lewkowicz told BoxingScene.com.
