Former two-division world champion Juan Manuel Lopez will have to answer for an alleged assault accusation on January 28th. when the boxer appears in a Caguas courtroom. On January 13th, Juanma, and his friend Pedro Rivera Pabon, allegedly went after 25-year-old Angel Matta at a cellphone story in Cagua.
There were issues in the past between Pabon and Matta. Some words were exchanged and then Pabon threw a punch. Matta was able to dodge the blow, but not before Juanma allegedly grazed his right ear with another punch.
Juanma could be charged with simple assault. The authorities are taking this minor skirmish seriously because Juanma is a licensed boxer, and pro boxers are prohibited from using their hands.
