Before the Mexican Embassy handed him his visa, world title prospect Juanito Rubillar looked like a real world champion in his final day of sparring on Thursday.
Rubillar demolished his three sparmates in twelve-rounds before the watchful eyes of his trainer Roel Morata at the Elorde Gym in Saint Rita Village in Paranaque City.
The 31-year-old native of Mati City received his visa with duration of six-months from Consul Miguel Angel George yesterday afternoon at the Embassy of Mexico in Dasmarinas Village in Makati City, east of Manila.
Morata and promoter Gabriel “Bebot” Elorde Jr. also took their visas and they booked their flights to the Mexican capital on Saturday morning (Friday evening in Mexico) via Northwest Airlines with stopovers in Tokyo and Los Angeles.
Rubillar will takes on the Mexican conqueror of Filipino-American Brian Viloria, Omar Nino, on June 14 at Palacio de los Deportes – the venue of basketball competition of 1968 Olympics where the Robert Jaworski-led and coached by Caloy Loyzaga RP team placed 13th among 16 competing countries.
The winner in the WBC light flyweight eliminator bout between the top two contenders, Nino and Rubillar, will earn the right to get a crack at the world title in the division.
