FILIPINO prospect Juanito Rubillar will join Manny Pacquiao in training at Wild Card Gym in Hollywood early next month in preparation for his big fight in Mexico City.
Rubillar will fly to Los Angeles, California sometime in the first week of June before they leave for the Mexican capital.
“Juanito will drop by for few days at the Wild Card Gym before we jet to Mexico City,” said Filipino promoter Gabriel “Bebot” Elorde Jr, who is set for an interview at United States Embassy in Manila on May 29 to renew his visa.
Boxing Division chief Dr. Nasser Cruz of the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) commended Elorde’s effort to give Rubillar an all-out support in his preparation for the final eliminator bout against former world champ Omar Niño of Mexico.
The survivor in Rubillar-Nino fight that is set for June 14 in the Mexican capital will earn the right to face World Boxing Council light flyweight champion Edgar Sosa of Mexico.
Currently, the former twot-time WBC Interanational champion and former Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation light flyweight king is training at Elorde Gym in St. Rita Village in Sucat, Pararanaque City under trainer Roel Morata.
The WBC wants Rubillar to reach Mexico 8 to 10 days before the bout to make him available for the promotional tours.
Niño (25-2-1, 11 KOs) and Rubillar (45-10-7, 22 KOs) earn the right to collide for the chance to get the shot against Sosa being the current top two contenders in the division.
Pacquiao will face WBC lightweight king David Diaz on June 28 at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
