Nicaragua’s Juan Palacios (25-2, 20 KOs) beat Japanese challenger Teruo Misawa (18-5, 7 KOs) with technical knockout win to keep his WBC Interim minimumweight title at Sichuan Gymnasium in Chengdu, China few minutes ago in the boxing show that is part of WBC’s 46th Annual Convention.

The taller champion floored the game challenger with barrage of punches at the rope. Misawa beat the count but Palacios pummelled him once again, forcing referee Stephen Blea to jump in and stop the contest at 2:28 in the 7th of scheduled 12-round bout.

It was Palacios’ first title defence after winning the interim championship bout with TKO win in the 10th against hometown boy Omar Soto of Puerto Rico in August.

Misawa suffered a back-to-back loss after his failure in his fifth attempt to win a Japanese national title in April.
