Nacho Beristain, trainer of former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs), says his fighter will sit out for the remainder of 2014 and then focus on a welterweight world title shot in the first half of 2015.
Marquez will soon return to the Romanza Gym in Mexico to begin the process of getting his body in shape and keeping his reflexes sharp.
Nacho once again ruled out a fifth fight with Manny Pacquiao, stating - "He will not fight Pacquiao. I don't want to see him in that fight."
But one option Nacho likes is newly crowned IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22KOs).
"[Right now] Juan Manuel is resting, enjoying his sports cars but I think in a couple of weeks he'll be back [in the gym]," Nacho said. "Next year, we are going to try for the English fighter who is welterweight champion, and then we'll win the title."
