A potential fight between lightweights Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz is getting closer. The fight has been in talks at one point or another since Marquez stopped Joel Casamayor in September. Richard Schaefer, CEO for Golden Boy Promotions, tells Dan Rafael that both fighters have agreed to the fight, which will take place on February 28 on HBO or at some point in March.

Diaz really wanted this fight to be in Houston, where it probably would have sold out the house. That will not happen. One of Marquez's stipulations in taking the fight was that it could not land in Houston. Schaefer told Rafael that right now the money is off with HBO, but he hopes the two sides can work out the numbers.

"Marquez has accepted the fight and Diaz has accepted the fight Now, it's a matter of finding the money. Assuming they each get paid X, they have agreed to fight. Now, I need to find X," Schaefer said.
