The return of multiple world champion Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KOs) is still on track for a date in July in the Arena Ciudad de Mexico, according to the boxer's Hall of Fame trainer Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain.

Nacho says Marquez is physically in excellent condition, training hard to reappear after just over three years of inactivity. The last Marquez saw action was in May of 2014, when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over Mike Alvarado.

"In the gym he has been training hard for several weeks, he is also showing his great physical condition. I've seen him look quite good, eager to return to the ring," said the renowned Mexican coach to Fox Deportes.

Although it's been mentioned that Marquez might possibly return on a date in August, Nacho said that wouldn't be the case.

"No, we do not think that it would be in that month, that's a long time away. He is going to fight in July in the Arena Mexico City," Nacho said.

It's hard to say what Marquez will look to accomplish at this late stage of the game, as the boxer turns 44 years old on the 23rd of August.

"This fight will be a preparation to see how he feel after the hard work he's done in the gym and to see how he feels in a fight, it will be a decisive fight for the future of his career. I look forward to that and maybe later on he can get the opportunity to go for a title, but first I have to see him in this fight back," said Nacho.

Marquez will be coming back at around the welterweight limit of 147-pounds. The opponent is still unknown at the moment, but Nacho says a few names are being discussed behind the scenes.
