Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs) is still rehabbing his injured right knee. He received some good news from his physicians that no surgery will be required. Marquez, 41-years-old, has been out of the ring since a May 2014 decision win over Mike Alvarado.
If Marquez receives some favorable news on the knee in the comings months, he thinks there is enough time to get back in the ring on a date in May or June.
"I'll start therapy. The good news I got is that I do not require any surgery, only therapy. We do not know how long it may take, only that it could last up to four months for a full recovery. It is not ruled out that I could have a fight in the first half of the year. Maybe in March or April a decision can be made more accurately. If the result is favorable I could be fighting in May or June, but we'll keep waiting to see how everything evolves," Marquez told ESPN Deportes.
