With a fight fight against Manny Pacquiao looking less and less likely for November, sources are now indicating that former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs) is potentially going to fight in Mexico in the fall, possibly on a date in September or October.
Zanfer Promotions, headed by promoter Fernando Beltran, are very interested in staging a major fall card in Mexico with Marquez as the headliner. Arena Mexico City and Arena Monterrey are the two most likely venues for such an event.
Marquez, soon to be 40-years-old, was last seen in action last month, when he traded knockdowns with Mike Alvarado to win a dominating twelve round unanimous decision. The fight took place at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
