On the undercard to Kelly Pavlik-Gary Lockett at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, Juan Manuel Lopez (22-0, 20KOs) proved that he might be one of best rising stars in the sport by knocking out Daniel Ponce De Leon (34-2, 30KOs) in one-round to capture the WBO super bantamweight title.
A combination that was punctuated by a right hook sent Ponce De leon down to the floor and he never recovered. Lopez jumped on him with a barrage in the corner to send him down again and forced the first-round stoppage.
Full ringside report coming tonight.
