With a month to go before he defends his WBO super bantamweight title, Juan Manuel Lopez weighed 133-pounds when he stepped on the scales in Puerto Rico. Per the commission in Puerto Rico, he was allowed a max of 140-pounds. He takes on Sergio Medina on the Las Vegas undercard to Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao. Top Rank tried to put him in with Bernabe Concepcion, but couldn't reach a deal to secure the Filipino fighter.

"I am well aware of the importance of this fight, between two big names and the arena is sold out. They are the main attraction, but I am going to be focused and will concentrate on my work. If a lot of people watch me or not, I am only worried about getting the win," Lopez told El Nuevo Dia.

No opponent this year has been able to take Lopez beyond three rounds. He is not worried about the knockout, and feels ready to go the distance.

"We always train for twelve rounds, but there are not a lot of fighters who have the force and ability to take me to the distance, unless they start to run," Lopez said.
