On the undercard to Oscar De La Hoya-Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, WBO super bantamweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez (24-0, 22KOs) stopped Sergio Medina (33-2, 18KOs) in one round.

In about 41-seconds of the first round, Medina went down after a few body punches. Moments later he went down again after a combination of punches. Upon getting up, he was quickly sent down again and the ref stopped the fight. It should be noted that Medina came to the ring weighing 138-pounds, putting on 16-pounds since the weigh-in. Lopez was 129, only putting on 7-pounds.

Lopez wants the big fights in 2009. He may defend against WBO bantamweight champion Gerry Penalosa next.
