MGM GRAND, Las Vegas - Former WBA/WBO/IBF lightweight champion Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz was in attendance for the Erik Morales versus Marcos Maidana fight that took place on Saturday night. Diaz's promoter Golden Boy Promotions annouced that Diaz will be returning to the ring. Diaz told BoxingScene.com that he will look to fignt a couple tune ups and then make another world title run. "I am looking at coming back in June or July. I have been running and staying in shape so I should be ready."
Since 2008, Diaz hasn't had any easy fights or tuneups. Since losing his 3 belts to Nate Campbell the Baby Bull has faced Michael Katsidis, Juan Manuel Marquez twice and Paulie Malignaggi twice going 2-3 in those fights. Diaz revealed that he planned on taking a couple of tune up fights before challenging for another title. "I would like to get 2 or 3 tuneups in this year and then fight for a title next year. My goal is to be the undisputed champion. I was close to doing it before but it didn't happen."
Diaz was accepted into law school at the Ivy League school Dartmouth. Diaz plans on holding off on law school until his boxing career ends.
