Laredo Energy Arena, Laredo, Texas - Former undisputed lightweight champion Juan Diaz (40-4, 19KOs) continued his comeback campaign with a ten round unanimous decision over a very determined Carlos Cardenas (21-9-1, 14KOs). The scores were 97-93, 98-92, 99-91.
This marks the fifth consecutive victory for Diaz since returning to the sport in April 2013, but this is also the third consecutive fight to go the distance. Cardenas, who gave Diaz some tough moments in the contest, now loses four out of his last five fights since August of 2012.
Welterweight prospect Alex Saucedo (14-0, 10KOs) knocked out Gary Gergeron (12-11, 7KOs) in the third round.
Junior middleweight/welterweight contender Brad Solomon (22-0, (KOs) stopped eveteran Freddy Hernandez (30-8, 20KOs) in the sixth round of action.
Olympic gold medal winner Egor Mekhontsev (5-0, 5KOs) stopped Samiel Miller (28-9, 25KOs) in the third round of their light hevayweight contest.
