BoxingScene.com was advised by former IBF/WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz (35-4) that he will return to the ring on July 29th versus David Torres (21-2-2) after a 12 month layoff. The fight will take place at The Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino which is the newest casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
Diaz is looking to snap a 2 fight losing streak and become a champion once again. The Houston, Texas based fighter told BoxingScene that the time away from the ring recharged his batteries and he is ready to go.
"I am excited and happy to be back in the ring. I had a year to rest and get my winning mentality back. I feel stronger and rejuvenated. I am ready to become a champion once more."
The fight will be televised by ESPN on their Friday Night Fight Series and is part of a show that is being promoted by Warriors Boxing.
Diaz was fought under the Golden Boy promotional banner the past few years but will be a free agent after the Torres fight.
