Former IBF/WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Diaz (35-4, 17KOs) is gunning for a title shot against WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios (27-0, 20KOs). In a recent interview with BoxingScene.com, Diaz announced his return to boxing after being away since July 2010. Diaz lost two of his last three fights, with two of those defeats coming at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez.

On his Twitter page, Diaz sent Rios a warning. Diaz is reportedly a free agent after his contract with Golden Boy Promotions expired, which makes the fight possible, although Golden Boy is trying to resign him.

"I am back and stronger then ever. Just letting you hold my title for now. I am going to school you, and shut you up!"
