Juan Carlos Salgado (24-1-1, 16KOs), who recently won a twelve round decision over Argenis Mendez to capture the WBA's super featherweight title, is considering a possible move in weight to challenge Jorge Linares (31-1-, 20KOs) for the WBC lightweight title - if Linares beats Antonio DeMarco for the vacant belt on October 15th in Los Angeles. In October 2009, Salgado stunned the boxing world with a first round knockout of Linares.

"Linares congratulated me [on the Mendez win] and wished me luck to continue the good progress in my career, because he wants his revenge. I'm the only one who knocked him out," said Salgado.

Juan Carlos admits that he dreams of winning the WBC world title.

"Some time ago, I spoke with [WBC President] Don Jose Sulaiman and he supported me a lot."
