On Wednesday morning, Juan Carlos Reveco, the junior flyweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), had surgery. He was scheduled to defend his crown against the Nicaraguan Roman "Chocolatito Gonzalez on the 24th of this month in Tokyo, Japan.

Reveco was preparing to take on Gonzalez in an interesting battle in the 108-pound division, but suffered kidney problems and had surgery. The surgery was a success and now Reveco expects to fight the winner of Gonzalez's announced bout against Mexico's Francisco "Chiquita" Rosas, who clash for WBA interim light flyweight title on the same October date.

"I was fine for this fight (with Roman) two months ago and I was training very hard, but now we will rest a week before returning to training," said Reveco in bed after surgery. "I do not know when I will the fight, but hopefully soon."

The kidney stone that was removed measured 4.5 mm and was lodged in the bladder. The operation lasted about an hour.
