Unbeaten Stoke light welterweight, Joshua McLaren, is back in action on Sunday, just weeks after his last outing.

The Frank Warren signed boxer port in an accomplished performance in Cannock earlier this month to comprehensively defeat Jamie Zaszlos. The 24 year-old won every round of a four-round contest to record a shut-out 40-36 victory.

“I was quite pleased with my performance in Cannock,” he told www.uko-boxing.com. “A lot of people said I boxed well. I didn’t take any silly shots and kept to the game plan so I was happy from that point of view.

“I only found out about the Plymouth show last week but I want to keep busy. You learn more the more rounds you do so I'm more than happy to be fighting on regular basis.

“I’m not too fussed to be fighting away from home. It’s a shame my growing fan base won’t be able to attend but as long as there’s four ropes and a canvas it’s all the same to me.”

Next up for McLaren is the relatively unknown O’Brien. The Hull native only turned professional a fortnight ago, losing on his debut to fellow novice, Gary Murray, in Scotland. It’s a step in the dark for McLaren but the Stoke scrapper remains unfazed by the prospect of facing a foe he knows little about.

“I know next to nothing about Paul but I didn’t know too much about Jamie in my last fight, “he added. “Like I have said before, I'm more concerned with what I'm doing rather than what my opponent can do.

“I know very little about him, which means I need to be on my game and prepared for anything he tries to bring. I’m just concentrating on getting the win.”

Tickets to see McLaren in action on the four-fight card EJKO Promotions show, in association with Carl’s Boxing Stable, are £30 or £50 Ringside and are available by calling: 07837 920 150.

Plymouth cruiserweight, Courtney Richards, takes on tough Lithuanian, Igoris Borucha, at the top of the bill whilst fellow Plymouth boxer,  lightweight Chris Adaway, debuts against Swindon’s Joe Beeden. Exeter welterweight, Freddy Kiwitt, completes the card.

There are a host of sponsorship opportunities still available including ring sponsorship, programme sponsorship and individual fight sponsorship. Prices start from as little as £300. Call Carl Robson on 07837 920 150 for more information.
