IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is looking forward to finally returning to the ring on June 20th at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Joshua has not fought on home soil since 2018. Last year he fought in New York City and Saudi Arabia.
Now he makes a mandatory defense against Kubrat Pulev.
The contest will be the first for Joshua since avenging the only defeat of his career, last December, when he outscored Any Ruiz over twelve rounds to recapture the heavyweight crown that he lost to Ruiz in June of the same year.
"I've never been so excited before. I'm back in London, back on my home turf, fighting against a formidable opponent," Joshua told Land Rover.
"Training has already started so I'm in a better place than I was last year due to the lessons I had to learn and Pulev will reveal some new skills and definitely a new style. Ruiz is a lot shorter, a lot wider. Pulev is a lot taller, a lot slimmer so will require a different strategy and tactics."
Should he win over Pulev, the next possible fight - could be a full division unification with WBC world champion Tyson Fury.
But first, Fury would have to win a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder, which is targeted for July 18th.
Last month at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Fury dropped Wilder twice and stopped him in the seventh round to capture the WBC world title. The victory made Fury a two-time world champion.
"The fight can happen when Tyson Fury gets past Deontay Wilder and when I get past Kubrat Pulev. If Fury wants that fight to happen, he'll make it happen and congratulations to him on his last performance. He's had two good fights in his career in my opinion, against (Wladimir) Klitschko and Deontay Wilder and he's managed to win them both so he's on a high right now," Joshua said.
