Josh Taylor has already taken the world by storm in his career – and he has once again made it clear that he’s not done yet.
Undefeated Taylor (16-0, 12 KOs) currently holding the WBA and IBF world super-lightweight belts, and is targeting a showdown with WBC and WBO champion Jose Ramirez.
A victory would see Taylor become just the fifth boxer to hold all four major world titles in their weight-class at once, but the ‘Tartan Tornado’ isn’t done there – as he then has ambitions to become a two-weight world champion.
Taylor told IFL TV: “To be an undisputed champion would be a dream come true. Not many fighters have done that. I could happily retire after that and say, ‘I’ve done enough.’ I have achieved my lifetime ambition of being a world champion. Every next achievement that comes will be a bonus.
“I’ve still got that same hunger and desire – if not more. I want to achieve more. I feel like I have yet to reach my full potential. I feel I’ve got a lot more to achieve and prove out there. I want to keep going and I still have that desire to do it. I believe I can go all the way, one hundred percent.
“I don’t want to be wasting time. I want get straight into big fights, continue with my goals and targets. Part of those is to win the four belts, then move up to 147 pounds, chase the bigger fights there and become a two-weight world champion.
“I want to get this fight with Khongsong done and chase Ramirez if he comes through against Viktor Postol, and prove I’m the number one in the division. I want to get my hands on all the four belts as quickly as possible.
“I’m going for Ramirez to win and hopefully we get that fight on next. I would like him to stay at 140 pounds and prove to me if he thinks he’s the best. I believe that I’m the best in the division and I can beat him – even knock him out.”
