Josh Taylor has been forced to deal with a late change of opponent after Humberto Soto pulled out.

The Prestonpans man, 27, had been set to defend his WBC Silver super-lightweight title against the former world champion at the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.

Taylor has been preparing for the 37-year-old (66-9-2, 36 KOs), with the clash set to be screened exclusively live on Channel 5 in the UK, as part of the Cyclone Promotions card billed ‘Scotland’s Finest’.

But after Soto was forced to withdraw from the fight with an unspecified injury, Taylor will now face Nicaraguan opposition.

Winston Campos, 25, has been brought in to face ‘The Tartan Tornado’ next weekend.

He has a record of 30-3-5 with 18 early and was last in action in December when he won the vacant WBA Fedecaribe super-lightweight title against Galvis Guerra in Managua.

“It came as a bit of a shock but these things happen in boxing,” Taylor said.

“I wish Humberto Soto all the best in his recovery but now I’m one per cent focused on defending my title. I’m confident I can put on a career-best performance next weekend at the SSE Hydro.”

Campos added in a statement: “I’m delighted to get this opportunity. I was in training for another fight when I got the call. I’m coming to Glasgow to shock the world.”

The rest of the March 3rd card is made up of action for Iain Trotter, Joe Ham and heavyweight Martin Bakole.

Lee McGregor boxes against Scott Allan, while Chantelle Cameron will defend her IBO female lightweight title against Myriam Dellal, Glenn Foot faces Jason Easton in a clash for the vacant Commonwealth title at super-lightweight and there is a tasty lightweight showdown between Charlie Flynn and Ryan Collins as the pair meet in a rematch with the vacant Celtic title at stake.
