Meadowbank Sports Centre, Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom - Josh Taylor 10st - 6-0, 6KOs vs. Dave Ryan 9'13- 17-9, 4KOs - As expected a cagey opening in the red hot furnace of Edinburgh's Meadowbank Arena. The fight opened up at the end of the first with both fighters landing telling blows however the more effective seem to come from Taylor.
Taylor's superior speed and timing were on show early as he landed telling counterpunches along with working well on the inside. The Edinburgh man looked to be targeting the game Englishman's body. Ryan looked to make it a fight when he could.
Great movement from Taylor puts Ryan down from a straight left hand in the third as flower of Scotland rang out around the arena. Ryan looked to press Taylor however Taylor looked vastly more experienced than his 6 record would suggest and weathered every onslaught from Ryan.
The gallant Ryan began to take a bit of beating from the technically far superior Scotsman who landed a cracking body shot at the end of round 4.
Taylor continued to capitalise in round 5 as he showed off a sublime display of punches. Shortly after putting Ryan down with a body shot the onslaught came and the referee in charge made the correct decision in stopping the contest at 2.45 of round number 5.

Ref Kenny Pringle - 6x3s John McCallum (10-1, 1KO) vs Norbert Szekeres (18-54-3, 9KOs) - Dominating performance by Edinburgh's John McCallum. Cut the ring off well, used jab effectively as he cruised to a 60-54 victory.
8x3s - 11st 6 - Connor Law 9-0, 2KOs vs 11st 5 - Jose Manuel Lopez Clavero 9-9-1, 2KOs - Kenny Pringle - Both boxers looked to establish themselves early, however Law landing he more effective punches early on visibly hurting Clavero with a straight left hand in the first which bloodied his nose.
The Spaniard had some aggressive spurts as he looked for a big shot of his own throughout. Law settled into the fight however early on as he controlled the range and patiently looking for his openings for the vast majority. The decorated Scottish amateur slipped, rolled and countered most of the attacks coming from his Spanish counterpart.
The theme continued for the most part throughout in what was a classy display from Law in a good learning fight for the Fife native against a tricky opponent. Law's supreme conditioning showed in the later rounds as he shot selection seemed to effect
The Fife man continued to apply controlled pressure going into the later rounds and was maybe unlucky not to find that one telling blow to get a stoppage victory. Referee John McGuire awarded the contest 80-72 to Connor Law.
4x3 John McGuire - 10st 8 Craig Macintyre 3-0, 1KO vs 10st 8 Miguel Aguilar 11-29-1, 5KOs - McIntyre appeared to be the stronger early on despite looking relaxed against his far more experienced opponent.
Mcintyre let the punches flow in the second, demonstrating his punch variety. The occasional flurry came from Aguilar however Mcintyre's jab was the controlling factor in the fight.
The theme of Mcintyre controlling behind the jab continued throughout. The Glasgow man seem to look as if he wanted to get the rounds in as he switched onto the back foot.
The contest finished with both fighters upping the pace slightly as a few power shots landed however Mcintyre cruised to a 40-36 victory.
