Josh Taylor will return to the ring next month.

The Commonwealth super-lightweight champion, who took out Dave Ryan inside five rounds back in October to land the vacant belt, exclusively live on Channel 5, has been added to a Stateside card topped by one of his gym-mates.

Taylor is nicknamed ‘The Tartan Tornado’ and has a ring record of 7-0 with all fights going early since he turned over to the paid code in July, 2015.

And after his glittering showing at the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh, the Scottish sensation has been confirmed as an addition to the undercard of Carl Frampton’s featherweight WBA Super title defence against Leo Santa Cruz in a rematch on January 28 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The fighter himself –– who has already boxed in America twice during his fledgling pro career and trains alongside Frampton under Shane McGuigan –– confirmed the news on social media, saying that he is “absolutely buzzing” and “cannot wait”.

Dejan Zlaticanin features in the chief supporting contest. The Montenegrin will defend his WBC lightweight crown against Mikey Garcia in a battle between two undefeated fighters.

Further additions to the card are expected to be revealed in due course.
