Andy Ruiz's long awaited ring return takes place on Saturday night at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Across the ring from him will be fellow Mexican American Chris Arreola (38-6-1). The fight will top a pay-per-view event that will be distributed by FOX. (photo by Ryan Hafey)

This will be Ruiz's first fight since his December, 2019 unanimous decision loss to Anthony Joshua in their rematch. Arreola also last fought in 2019 when he lost an unanimous decision to Adam Kownacki in August.

Like most observers, he believes the fight will be action packed.  He just wishes that the fight took place a few years ago.

"This is a great, fan friendly, Mexican match up.  Unfortunately for Arreola, this fight is happening 5 or 6 years too late.  Andy Ruiz is 31 years old and is coming into his prime.  Now with true discipline and focus, he has everything to prove. Andy really has shown a different side of himself since he started training alongside Canelo and teaming up with Eddy Reynoso,' Barry told BoxingScene.com.

Arreola has faced several champions but a world title always eluded him.  He has been in the ring with the likes of Vitali Klitschko, Deontay Wilder, Tomasz Adamek, and Bermane Stiverne.

Even though he his past his prime, Barry expects Arreola to leave it all in the ring.

"Chris Arreola is truly a proud warrior who always fight with courage and pride.  Nobody thought he was still capable of the performance he put on in his 12 round war against Adam Kownacki.  He created history by breaking the 34 year old CompuBox record for heavyweight - by throwing 1125 punches in an all out 12 round war against Adam Knownacki," said Barry.  "After being out of the ring for 20 months and fighting just 4 times since 2015 it would be a miracle to expect the 40 year old to catch lightning in a bottle again."
