On the heels of the best performance of his career, Josean Figueroa is rewarded with a hometown showcase. The resurgent junior featherweight will headline Migueo Cotto Promotions' next edition of 'Boxeo Al Maximo', facing Jonel Nieves on June 13 at Coliseo Ismael Delgado in Aguada, Puerto Rico.
The bout is mere minutes from Figueroa's hometown of Aguadilla, a reward for his brave showing in a majority draw versus unbeaten prospect Jose 'Wonder Boy' Lopez in February.
“I had a great fight against Lopez, he is a tough tough fighter with heavy hands but I came in my best condition," notes Figueroa (8-3-2, 7KOs), who hadn't fought in 16 months prior to the bout. "Now I will fight in my hometown which excites me a lot.
“It’s the first time in my career that I will be fighting there and I will be better than ever for Jonell Nieves.”
Said co-promoter Hector Soto: “He had a tremendous fight against Wonder Boy Lopez in Carolina and he deserved this opportunity to headline our next show in front of his hometown of Aguada.”
The undercard also feature the return of undefeated prospect Javier ‘Chino’ Flores (11-0, 10KO’s), lightweight Kevin Nieves (7-1-1, 3KO’s), Miguel Canino (6-0, 2KO’s), Carlos Narvaez (9-0, 6KO’s), Bryan Chevalier (3-0, 3KO’s) and Richy Rodriguez (3-0, 3KO’s).
