Another fight, another win for Jose 'Chon' Zepeda.
The junior welterweight contender stopped Domicio Rondon in round seven Saturday night at the Auditorio Municipal in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico.
The southpaw Zepeda was the aggressor throughout the fight, battering and breaking Rondon down with each round. Rondon was in survival mode by the middle rounds, fighting back in spurts.
Zepeda hurt Rondon midway through round seven, and moments later, forced the referee to step and stop the fight at 1:53.
Zepeda, who was born in the Los Angeles suburb of Long Beach and now resides in Mexicali, Mexico, improves to 30-1 1 NC, 25 knockouts. He is ranked number four by the WBO and has won his last seven bouts since his knockout loss to Terry Flanagan in July of 2015.
In his previous bout on June 16, Zepeda survived a fourth round knockdown to knock out lightweight contender Carlos Diaz.
Rondon, who resides in Cumana, Venezuela, drops to 15-5, 10 KOs. He has lost his last two bouts after winning his previous four.
Fringe junior bantamweight contender Dewayne Beamon used his quickness to outbox veteran Martin Tecuapetla over eight rounds.
Scores were 78-74, 78-74, and 79-73 for Beamon, who improves to 16-1-1, 11 KOs.
The fight was a rematch from their Aug. 11 clash in Mexico City, a fight Tecuapetla won by split decision. Tecuapetla drops to 14-10-4, 10 KOs.
The card was promoted by Zanfer Promotions and aired live on Azteca TV throughout Mexico.
