Getting back in position to fight for a world title is the priority for José "Chon" Zepeda, when he returns for an important fight on October 31 in Mexicali, Baja California, against former world champion Jose Alfaro.
Zepeda (23-1, 20 KO) was last seen in action in July, losing out on the opportunity to win a world title when he dislocating his shoulder in his showdown against England's Terry Flanagan.
The boxer based in La Puente, California, underwent a careful rehabilitation program and he took the decision not to have shoulder surgery. He feels ready to climb back into the ring.
Zepeda has promised to get revenge by going into a rematch against Flanagan early next year.
In his last outing, Alfaro (28-9-1-24 KO) defeated compatriot Gonzalo Munguia last July and says he is ready for this opportunity.
"When a boxer is losing his unbeaten record, he is psychologically affected and loses confidence. I will use my experience to find the win. I'll sign the contract this week and I have always kept training," Alfaro said.
Alfaro has faced fighters from the likes of Humberto "Zorrita" Soto, Erik "Terrible" Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera. He holds a win over former world champion DeMarcus Corley.
