A 10-round showdown between Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela and Diego Torres will headline the second installment of Zuffa Boxing on February 1. The show will take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, it was announced Wednesday.
Although Valenzuela, 14-3 (9 KOs), has fought his past two fights as a junior welterweight and Torres, 22-1 (19 KOs), is primarily a lightweight, the fight will take place at a catchweight that has yet to be announced.
Valenzuela, 26, of Renton, Washington, is looking to rebound after losing his WBA junior welterweight title to Gary Antuanne Russell last March, which followed his split decision upset over Isaac Cruz to secure the belt in 2024. The 28-year-old Torres, of Zapopan, Mexico, has won four straight since his previous step up, an eighth-round stoppage of Raymond Muratalla in 2023.
Two other 10-round fights are also slated for the card, which will air live on Paramount+.
According to Dan Rafael, a middleweight clash with Serhii Bohachuk and Radzhab Butaev, plus light heavyweights Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Radivoje Kalajdzic will land on the show.
Kalajdzic, 29-3 (21 KOs), of Serbia, will be making his first ring appearance since August 2024, when he lost a unanimous decision to David Morrell Jnr for the WBA light heavyweight title, while Gvozdyk, 21-2 (17 KOs), a former WBC light heavyweight titleholder from Ukraine, last fought in April, stopping Anthony Hollaway in three rounds.
Bohachuk, 26-3 (24 KOs), of Ukraine, will be trying to bounce back from a decision loss to Brandon Adams when he faces Russia’s Butaev, 16-1 (12 KOs), who has fought his past two fights at junior middleweight following his split decision loss to Eimantas Stanionis in 2022 for the WBA welterweight title.
