World Boxing Council President Jose Sulaiman, has brushed aside a verbal jab by Top Rank Promoter Bob Arum that was directed at Floyd Mayweather Jr., accusing "Money Mayweather" of being a psychological coward. Arum feels that Mayweather is mentally scared to fight opponents like Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito.
Bob Arum, who used to be Floyd’s promoter, made the accusation on the Mexico City leg of the Cotto-Margarito press tour. He said while Floyd is no physical coward, he is a psychological one because he won’t face the best…and more aptly, the most dangerous out there.
Don Jose, who described Bob Arum as a very shrewd and intelligent promoter, explained:
“What he’s doing is setting the table, so that Floyd Mayweather gets impacted or mad with his words, and accepts to fight the winner (of Cotto vs. Margarito). And doing that would be a multi million dollar fight. That’s what he’s looking for, because Floyd Mayweather is the best pound for pound fighter of today, regardless of what he (Arum) says, or anybody else says.
"Floyd has fought the best, and he has beaten them all. He fought Oscar (De La Hoya), when everybody thought that Oscar would murder him…and he beat him.”
