Jose Ramirez has clear goals. His plan is to return to the ring in July, unify the super light championship of the World Boxing Council that he holds and make as much noise as he can at 140 pounds before looking for another kind of challenge at 147 pounds.

Visiting the Mexican capital to receive a special WBC belt from Mauricio Sulaimán, head of the organization, José Ramírez proudly said he had successfully defended the belt on Sunday against José Zepeda with no issues.

"My goal is to unify scepters, I already made two defenses of my championship, I'm still growing with Robert Garcia and I think it's time to unify championships, there's Maurice Hooker (World Boxing Organization Champion), and you have to see what happens with the World Boxing Super Series because there are also other champions," said Ramierz to ESPN Deportes.

Regis Prograis, who holds the WBC's interim junior welterweight title, believes Ramirez is ducking him.

After failed attempts to get his hands on Ramirez, Prograis decided to join the World Boxing Super Series.

But Prograis is now lingering in the wind, waiting for the WBSS to scheduled his next fight in the tournament.

"I know the truth, fortunately I have a platform to fight on like ESPN. They are in the tournament because they do not have a platform. If it were up to me, I would have been in the tournament, but my promoter tells me what is best for me. He doesn't have a fight scheduled in the tournament and he has to say something to get attention, but I'm not worried, and I'm the absolute champion of the WBC," Ramirez said.

Carl Moretti, the VP of Top Rank, said that Jose's return probably will be in July, and that they will see the possibility of achieving that unification that he expects.
