As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, 2012 US Olympian Jose Ramirez (19-0) will return to the ring for the first time in 2017 on May 5th in Reno at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. The fight will headline an UniMas Solo Boxeo card being put on by Top Rank Inc. Jonathan Chicas has been mentioned as a possible opponent.

Ramirez went 3-0 last year with 2 knockouts including an appearance on the Manny Pacquiao-Tim Bradley 3 pay-per-view televised undercard.

The unbeaten prospect was at a press conference last week to help promote the upcoming Andy Vences-Angel Hernandez March 10th fight that takes place near his hometown at the Tachi Palace in Central California.

Ramirez believes that he is on the verge of fighting for a title in the competitive super lightweight division.  After the press conference he revealed that the title shot may come before the end of the year.

"I'm 19-0. Hopefully these next two fights are the ones I need to get the opportunity when I'm 21-0 to challenge somebody and that should be by the end of the year. Hopefully I go in there and make a statement that I'm ready to fight a good fighter for a title. There are good fighters in the super lightweight division and I believe I am one of them. My trainers Freddie Roach and Marvin Somodio, they believe in me," Ramirez explained.
