Fresno, Ca. - USA Olympian Jose Ramirez will have a chance at his first title and do it at home. The undefeated prodigy (11-0-1) will compete for a NABF Junior title in the super lightweight division when he takes on David Rodela in the main event of a nationally televised Top Rank fight card at the Selland Arena on Saturday, October 25.
"I am sure that October 25 will be the first of many title fights for future superstar Jose Ramirez," said Hall of fame promoter Bob Arum.
"It's a honor for me to have this opportunity and even more, to do so in front of the fans at home," said Ramirez. He was born and raised in Avenal, Ca.
"That atmosphere will be electric on October 25 in the Selland Arena and what an opportunity to have this happen in the Central Valley. I am very excited for Ramirez," said agent/promoter Rick Mirigian.
The North American Boxing Federation is an independent organization, sanctioning professional boxing championships for the countries of Canada, the United States, Mexico and is affiliated with the World Boxing Council.
"We are excited that Jose Ramirez will be fighting for our Junior NABF title. That said, he has an extremely tough opponent. I had the opportunity to watch Jose in Las Vegas and was very impressed. What a great following this young man has. I am sure there will not be an empty seat in the house," said Duane Ford, NABF-President.
The Ramirez vs Rodela title fight will be on Top Rank's Solo Boxeo Tecate national broadcast on UniMas.
