MERIDA YUCATAN - Knockout artist and charismatic José Pinzón - better known as "Barretas" - will reappear on Saturday in his hometown of Merida, Yucatan, in the "Mayan Challenge" - an event co-promoted by Zanfer and Maxboxing of Mario Abraham and transmitted House of Boxing Azteca 7. Pinzón (18-2-1, 12 KOs) will take part in a ten round welterweight against Brazilian Edvan Dos Santos Barros (11-10, 9 KOs).
For Barretas, it will be his first fight of the year and return to the ring for the first time since last December in Anaheim, California, where he almost upset Pawel Wolak by dropping the Polish fighter, who came back to win by TKO.
Pinzon is the actual World Youth Champion of middleweight, which he claimed in October 2010 by knocking out Jaime Barboza. For his part, Dos Santos Barros is a very experienced fighter and faced world class opponents like Michael Santos, Marvin Cardona, Luis Collazo, Jesus Soto Karras and Keith Thurman.
Also on the same card, undefeated Aaron "La Joya" Herrera (19-0-0, 14KOs) will be tested by the experienced Venezuelan Alirio "Morocho" Rivero (21-8-1, 14 KOs) over 10 rounds at lightweight.
