The World Boxing Council's junior champion at 130 pounds, Jose Pedraza (7-0 and 5 KO's), is very confident that his dream of becoming a world champion in that division can all be realized by the end of 2012 or early 2013, before ascending to the lightweight division.
"That's what I aspire to do. 2012 comes with a lot of excitement and I'm happy to fight in Ponce on February 24, defending the title. Who knows, maybe at the end of this year I can get a world title. We train like champions and the work is twofold. I will continue at 130 and maybe at the end of the year I will climb to 135. I've had over five years of fighting at 130 and 132, since I was an amateur," he said.
Pedraza expects to have about six fights in 2012 and take his record to a 13-0 mark to look for a title fight.
