The Sheffield Star reports that Top Rank has reached out to the camp of WBC junior welterweight champion Junior Witter (36-1-2, 21KOs) with an offer to fight former lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo (56-8-1, 48KOs) of Mexico.
Witter appears to be interested in the fight because it may give him what his career is lacking, television exposure in America. On the other hand, Witter's team is not as eager to make a deal to fight Castillo.
Dominic Ingle, trainer of Witter, told the paper the fight is risky because his fighter gains very little from beating Castillo. He feels the public will say Witter beat a washed-up version of Castillo who was already knocked out in four rounds by UK rival Ricky Hatton.
"If Junior was to go over and beat him easily - which he is capable of doing - people will just say Castillo is washed up and was when Hatton beat him," Ingle said.
