Contenders José "Chelo" González and Jonathan "Polvo" Oquendo, and prospect Jonathan "Bomba" Gonzalez will have showcase bouts on the upcoming edition of the series “A Puño Limpio, which takes place at the coliseum Antonio R. Barcelo in Toa Baja on Friday, June 3, in a presentation by PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) and the transmission of which will go live and exclusively through WAPA and WAPA America.
"In this third edition, we'll have two regional title bouts, as Gonzalez and Oquendo, will fight in bouts involving the NABO belt which belongs to the World Boxing Organization (WBO)," said promoter Ivan Rivera, president of PRBBP. "With this fight, Jose should be ranked at 135 pounds and Jonathan is approaching a world title fight."
"Chelo" Gonzalez (15-0 and 11 knockouts) will opt for the lighter rod of the NABO in a 10 round bout against an opponent to be announced. For Gonzalez, a native of Barrio Bells in Toa Baja, it will be the third fight of 2011, winning his last two matches by knockout before Derrick Campos and Miguel Angel Munguia, respectively.
For his part, Oquendo (20-2 and 13 knockouts), who in January knocked out Cecilio Santos in one, will defend his NABO belt at 122 pounds against an opponent to be determined in the 10-round co-main event.
In addition, the telecast will also feature flyweight gold medalist and the Central American and Caribbean Games of Caguas, Jonathan "Bomba" Gonzalez (2-0, and two knockouts), who will fight in a four round bout at 112 pounds.
The lineup will consist of five more fights to be announced.
