Jose Gonzalez-Derrick Campos on February 5 in Bayamon
Experienced Derrick Campos will be the opponent of undefeated José "Chelo" González on the card "Future Champions 2," which will also see Israel "The Crown" Vazquez in action on February 5 at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon, in a presentation by PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP).
Campos, 29 years old from Topeka, Kansas, has a 20-10 record and 11 knockouts and had fights with such standouts Ukrainian Dmitriy Salita, Belarusian Andrea Isaeu, and the Americans Eloy Perez and Diego Magdaleno .
"He will be the most experienced opponent to in the career of "Chelo." It's a good fight for "Chelo," and we know that he is preparing to be 100% ready, as usual," said promoter Ivan Rivera, president of PRBBP.
Gonzalez, 27, has a record of 13-0 and nine knockouts and will be making his first fight in 2011 after fighting five times last year, and winning all the clashes within the distance.
Meanwhile, Vazquez (1-0-1 and 1 KO), son of former triple world champion Wilfredo Vazquez and brother of the current WBO super bantamweight champ Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., will make his first start in Puerto Rico when he takes on an opponent to be announced in a four round junior flyweight bout. Vazquez made his professional debut in October 2010 with a draw against Janice Rivera, then scored his first victory in December when he knocked out Thomas Heaton in one. Both fights were made in the state of Florida.
The program, consisting of eight fights, will also feature former world gold medalist McWilliams Arroyo (5-1 and four knockouts) who will be the co-headliner of the night when he faces an opponent who's name will be released soon in a six round flyweight bout.
Announced soon will be all of the fights that are going to be carried out in this second edition of the hit series "Future Champions", which began in 2010 in Fajardo and now moves to Bayamon.
