Rising lightweight Jose Felix Jr. has had a productive year, thus far. First he blew out Raymond Sermona in one round in Macao and in his last fight he out-pointed the tough Yakubu Amidu over ten. And it looks like he's gotten his next assignment.
According to his adviser, Oscar Valdez - "Top Rank just told us that we will be returning on September 19th on a UniMas card. They haven't told us where it will be and we still have to find an opponent but that's what we're getting ready for regardless."
Currently, Felix Jr. - who hails from the fighting city of Los Mochis, Mexico - has a mark of 30-1-1 (24 KO's) and there's a particular fight in the future that interests them.
"We'd love to face Felix Verdejo in the future," said Valdez. "He's a great talent, no doubt about it, he could be the next Puerto Rican star but Jose has the type of talent and style to really give him problems in my opinion. He's tall, rangy, throws a lot of punches and can move. Jose just moved to 135 and he's getting bigger and stronger. Also, he's a young Mexican, so that would be a great match-up in a lot of ways.
"I understand that this fight will have to be built a little bit and we'd have to wait but that's a fight that really interests us in the future."
