Nicaraguan José Alfaro, the former world lightweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), returned to the ring with a seventh round knockout win over Mark Mojica, also of Nicaragua, in the junior welterweight main event of a card being staged at the Holiday Inn in Managua.

Alfaro appeared to be on his way to quick knockout after dropping Mojica in the first, second and fourth rounds. But Mojica, who only weighed in at 136-pounds on Friday, battled back and had Alfaro in some rocky waters during the fifth and sixth rounds. Then Alfaro was able to recover and once again blasted Mojica to the canvas in the seventh round. The fourth knockdown signaled the end of the fight with Mojica in serious trouble.

Alfaro had not fought since August 2012 and raised his record to 27-8-1, with 23 knockouts, while Mojica fell to 13-2-2 with 9 knockouts.
