Former world champion José Alfaro believes Humberto Soto, a three-time beltholder, made a big mistake by selecting him as an opponent for a September 3 headliner in Los Mochis, Mexico. Soto vacated his WBC lightweight crown and takes his first step to a world title in the junior welterweight division. Alfaro, who fought as high as welterweight, feels Soto is not strong enough to compete at 140-pounds.
"I'm very excited about this fight. It's very good for my career. Soto is a technical fighter, fast, but don't have the power to win. I think Soto is trying to experiment in this division, which is very different from what happened in my career. It will be tough to beat Soto in Mexico. I feel that Soto made a mistake in selecting me as his next opponent," he reiterated.
"I feel that I have advantage with my ability to attack and because I'm going to throw punches and hit him for the entire twelve rounds."
