Venezuela's Jorge "Golden Boy" Linares, the lightweight world champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), visited the office of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and made his interest clear in unifying world titles.

After nearly four years without stepping foot on Panamanian territory, Linares (39-3, 26 KOs) made a short visit before continuing back to the United States. He just signed a deal to see action in October in Venezuela.

"There is still nothing definite, but news will come soon [as to exact location in Venezuela]," Linares said.

In 2010, Linares made his last performance in Venezuela with a majority decision win over Francisco Lorenzo at the Dome, and in 2004 he grabbed a unanimous decision over Hugo Soto in the Caracas arena.

"I am grateful for the reception I had in Venezuela. We are discussing several names but the one that attracts us is the unification, which would be a fourth title and would be great to win in Venezuela," Linares said.

The name being mentioned for the unification is WBA kingpin Darleys Perez (32-1, 20 KOs) of Colombia.

"But the name of Kevin Mitchell (39-3, 29KOs) is also mentioned, that would be for a rematch. Those are the most attractive, but we have not ruled out any names. We must gather everyone from the team to decide in the coming weeks."
