The two-time world champion, Venezuelan Jorge "Golden Boy" Linares, insists that he wants the best match for next year and also stresses that his goal is to be champion again. At this point he is resting and currently spending time in Managua as a guest at the annual convention of the World Boxing Association, an entity in which he is ranked as the number one ranked contender super featherweight.

He does not have definite plans. He doesn't not rule out a return to Japan, where he spent his professional career, but insists that the U.S. could be where he makes his new home.

"Right now there are many possibilities, and my team is in search of the best options. I'd like to go to America because it is a new market and gives me the opportunity to speak another language and it is difficult to get boxers at this weight to help me in Asia. It would be easier to get sparring in the United States."

Of the rivals he wants to fight, he named Juan Diaz and Juan Manuel Marquez.

"I want to face them. They are opponents of a high level and I'm ready to give a good show."

However, he also said that Robert Guerrero and Michael Katsidis could be good options, "but Katsidis will depend on what happens this weekend with Marquez."
