At the Mazatlan Convention Center in Mazatlan, former two division champion Jorge Linares (31-1, 19 KOs) stopped Adrian Verdugo (18-5-1, 15 KOs) in the seventh round of a lightweight bout. Linares make it four in a row since the shocking first round drilling at the hands of Mexico's Juan Carlos Salgado in 2009. Linares came back well, winning bouts over Francisco Lorenzo, Rocky Juarez and recently dominating former champion Jesus Chavez.
Junior flyweights Pedro Guevara (12-0-1, 8 KOs) and Mario Rodriguez (10-6-4, 7 KOs) fought to a lackluster twelve round draw. They were fighting for the WBC silver belt. The three judges saw it 114-114 for the draw, 116-111 for Guevara and 115-112 for Rodriguez.
