Details are sketchy but apparently former super featherweight champion Jorge Barrios was involved in a major traffic accident in the city of Mar del Plata, which is south of Buenos Aires. He was allegedly driving his car at a very high speed, lost control and crashed his BMW SUV into several other vehicles. A 20-year-old pregnant woman was killed and six people were injured. Several witnesses told police officers that Barrios was responsible for the accident and allegedly committed numerous traffic violations.
Barrios fled the scene of the accident but later appeared with his attorney at a police station. He was arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter. More details to follow as I get them.
